There is something about sitting in front of that frame for 10 hours that just keeps me coming back. Each rug is hand-tufted from start to finish — custom designs, pop culture pieces, abstract work, and whatever else sounds interesting. Student Instructor — Community School of the Arts
Indiana State University · Terre Haute, IN · Saturday Sessions
I served as a Student Instructor at the Community School of the Arts, hosted at Indiana State University. Every Saturday I ran 5-hour hands-on tufting sessions for classes of up to 10 people — walking students through the full process from design concept to finished rug.
Sessions covered frame setup, tufting gun technique, pile height, backing, and finishing. Students came in with zero experience and left with a completed piece. Watching someone finish their first rug never gets old.
Teaching also sharpened my own practice — explaining the process forces you to understand it at a deeper level, and every class threw up a different problem to solve.
